Dark as the world is, there is hope. I rarely go this religious here; however, I hope it brings hope even for those who are not religious.
Through trials and tribulations
That come from worldly woes
And breaking hearts’ prostration
For rescue from our foes.
A pleading cry arises
To heaven’s all gracious king
And begs with tearful praises
For the future in the wings.
That future now stands shadowed
Bereft of hope: forlorn.
And we who strive and labor
Are begging for the morn.
Come, O Lord, to save us
We labor either way
We do not ask you praise us
We ask you bring the day.
The stars they call us onward
Your wonders to unfold
Yet earthly foes crush downward
And chain the brave and bold.
We ask you break the binding
That shackles us today
And that, we, the future minding
Can once more find our way.
