I found the opening stanza of this one in an old poetry notebook. (I have a lot of those.) And decided to finish it out. It may be a bit early in the day for the cozy sleepy mood, but I hope you enjoy it.
A crackling hearth, warm and bright
Gentle voices in the velvet night
Family and friends gather ‘round
While wind and fire are the loudest sound.
Children nod one by one
Quiet voices ramble on
In the dark the stars shine bright
And the wind alone sings tonight.
The cat sleeps soundly by the hearth
No mice have stirred to seek its warmth
Still the voices murmur on
But fall away as night drifts on.
So the moon sets her sail
And watches o’er the rooftops pale.
Hearthfire embers their watching keep
While all the house drifts off to sleep.
