Knight of the Fairy Wood

The darkness always comes, but the light always rises to defeat it no matter how long the night between.

Fairies dance within the wood
Guarding right and growing good,
And when their wicked fall away
The fairies mourn from dusk to day.

In that mourning in the night
The fallen come to bring the blight.
The woods they darken, bleak and still;
No longer friend, poised to kill.

Yet some there come with hope held high
A noble face raised to the sky.
Courage to strengthen a youthful soul
Into the woods with lofty goal.

A sword is clamped tight in his fist,
As he steps into the mist.
A fire burns within his soul
And lights his way to his goal.

The watchful foe nips at his heel
And tempts him long with woe and weal,
But still he treads his measured way
And brings the dawn that starts the day.

Yet still he plumbs the darkest night
Where ebon king rules by might.
There bleakest foes gathers long
And snares and traps hinder long.

But long at last shall come the light
And wicked king shall face his plight.
The shining warrior strong and good
Returns the joy unto the wood.

Fairies dance and fairies sing.
They sing their praises to a rightful king.
And should you find their court ere long,
You may be asked to join their song.
