Today I have a character being hopelessly romantic. And since the world needs more of that, here you go. (The character is Sebastian Blackwood, he’s behind a lot of the ones I’ve been writing lately.)
The lady from the highlands has come and saved my soul
From where it was shackled she has granted me parole.
No great or bold redeemer, though she stood in his stead
And cleared the illusions from the inside of my head.
In laughter and in peril together we will keep
All faith in the future, and the harvest that we reap.
We travel now by pathways guarded by a mighty foe
But together we will face them and then we lay them low.
Tomorrow may not greet us, no dawning of the day
But together we travel onward come what may.
Her courage has never broken, though I have seen her shake,
And I guard her in the pathways she alone can take.
She fears a bitter ending this lady fair of mine,
But cannot see the wending of all the strengths divine.
Come life we spend together or sad and sudden death
Still my lady from the highlands has shown me all life’s breadth.
So cherish while you have them, those who cause your soul to sing.
Let no peril yet nor terror sway you with their sting.
For good friends and true companions, and your lady by your side
Are what craft the life worth living where the future will abide.
