This is one that I started a while back. It took a while for the rest to come to me. This is from the same world as “The Deep King” and explains some of the lead-in to that one.
The King returns unto his throne
Know he does not come alone.
Grand the wars he has bravely fought
Strong the kingdom he has wrought.
Usurping hands are soon laid low
’Neath treason’s tree with naught to show.
Naught to show but blood and pain
Though echoes ever shall remain.
Through strife and courage built and forged
So he comes to his reward.
A throne he claims at bleakest end
Which falls at last to a friend.
Where curse’s bite buries deep
And mercy’s power casts him to sleep
The King returns unto his throne
And will awaken to claim his own.
New strength will come, do not fear
Though curse will crumble much that’s dear.
So covet not the dwarven throne
The king will come into his own.
