Something for you because hope is scarce at times, but it is not lost.
Candles ever flicker in the grimly glowing gloom
A flame flares then gutters, and another shares its doom.
Yet somewhere in the darkness another spark prevails.
Reminding all its brothers: The light shall not fail.
Though dark grow the hours, and forever seems too far
The morning seems so distant, without a single star.
And candles in the darkness seem so very frail.
But still they they are burning: the light shall not fail.
Though some are only mem’ry and the days are all forlorn,
Others spread their fire, yet others are new born.
Each spark of hope a brilliance that leaves a gleaming trail
Each one glitters in the darkness: The light shall not fail.
Though the pricks of light may vanish, alone or with their peers
Their hope cannot be banished, for others gather near
And in the dark they stand tall and tell their tale:
As long as one flame still is sparking the light shall not fail.
