Glimpses of Gryphons

Being a veteran, and this being veteran’s day I should do something veteran related. So what comes to mind? Gryphons in Scottland from the perspective of a child of indeterminant age. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

The Gryphons play in Aberdeen
Where such creatures are rarely seen
Amid castles, steeples, and rocky shore
Where wonders danced, alas no more.

Yet the Gryphons came once more to play.
Perhaps they’ll come another day
And bring with them a dragon’s trove
Or a fairy bard that likes to rove.

Today I saw a fiery bird
A phoenix, of which I’m sure you’ve heard.
It swooped above the cathedral grand
And bowed to the cross as it came to land.

Perhaps tomorrow the merfolk play
Though I hope the Kelpies stay away.
The Gryphons came again to Aberdeen
After so many years in between.
