Sea Song

Many a little boy has dreamed of running away to sea. Here is one set of day dreams.

The sea, the sea is calling
Like the rhythm of a drum
It calls each night and morning
I answer, “I come! I come!”

I come to find adventure.
I come to sail the waves.
I come to the harbor
To find out if I’m brave.

For on the sea are pirates
And mermaids in the deep
And monsters still linger
And sirens singing in your sleep.

But bold hearts always answer,
Though also know the cost,
Of fame, yes and fortune,
And to guard what would be lost.

The sea, the sea is calling
Like the rhythm of a drum.
It calls each night and morning
I answer, “I come! I come!”
