Enjoy a bit of whimsy from a place where Trees may also be people and the Fae count them as friends.

Softly, soft the apple tree
Whispers down calling me
Softly sings me to my rest
Then stands her watch at his behest

Inward turned, my drifting mind
Catches songs that float through time,
Yet never am I there alone
She watches long o’er paths unknown.

Years have come and years have gone,
Her silver boughs still stand strong.
Though I have grown and moved away
Still I return to her bay.

The rippling string plays at her feet
As I tell her of all I meet:
Of prophet, prince, and warrior strong
Of pain and sorrow o’er journeys long.

Cen’tries come and cen’tries go
Still her wisdom grows and grows.
Though I cross many seas
Still I return beneath her leaves.
