I wrote this a while ago, but it never seemed the right time for it. It now seems appropriate for Memorial Day.
Day of sorrow, day of pain
Day to mourn the lost again.
While vengeance serves a bitter draught
Hard won justice is slowly bought.
The wolf’s head fear the righteous sword
And the guilty tremble as battle roars.
So will all the guilty fall
As bitter justice comes to call.
When all the guilty lie in the dust
The soldiers return as they must
No justice can return their dead to life
But living friends help ease the strife.
Once justice served and battle done
May peace rain down, the battle won.
May every heart be made whole
Your land protected forever more.
