A Star to Travel By

Even the tiniest light keeps the darkness from being complete.

Catch a star in your hand
Hold it like a burning brand
Like a sword against the night
Leading with its shining light.

Take a step and then one more
Though you fear they’ve locked the door
Hold the blazing banner high
Against the darkness looming nigh.

Journey on into the day.
Light shall guide you on your way.
Though traps and snares abound
Your kindred gather round.

Kin of heart and of home
Who also now must roam
Each one brings a light
That will blaze into the night.

Lift your star up to the sky,
Day by day as time goes by.
Do not fear what stalks at night
You will travel in the light.
